The artist Richard Prince may be known for the Cowboys series he created in the 1980s, where he lifted photographs of the Marlboro Man from advertisements for the cigarette brand, but these days he's into a "higher" form of art that started with the Hippie drawings of the '90s and aughts that made their way onto the cover of High Times twice, the most recent for the August 2019 collector's edition cover, and were also the focus of a "High Times" exhibition at Gagosian San Francisco last summer. The artist even designed his own strain of marijuana and brand of marijuana called Katz + Dogg, which comes as flower, vape pens, pre-rolled joints, and merch that feature the Hippie Drawings, which are wide-eyed, playful, and inspired by his kids' work as well as his own "dead head" figures.

"Just as kids have a way of pulling you in even when they're deep in their own creative thing, cannabis can aid in carving out your own headspace but is also inherently social, bringing all of us freaks together," reads the Katz + Dogg website.

Marijuana and art lovers in Southern California will have easy access to the art-meets-cannabis brand. Thanks to a major distribution deal, Katz + Dogg will now be available at MedMen locations across Southern California, marking one of the first times that fine art and marijuana are landing in the cannabis retail space. Known as the Apple Store of marijuana, MedMen features 29 locations in the United States, and Katz + Dogg will be in stock at the MedMen's Venice Beach, DTLA, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills locations.

To celebrate, MedMen Beverly Hills will unveil a new capsule collection and furniture installation by "the mad scientist of vintage clothing" Darren Romanelli made in collaboration with Prince under the name DRx. The clothing line debuted last summer at the bookstore at Gagosian New York.
