Kimpton has a concept called a social password, where you can receive perks for sharing a phrase at check-in. I wanted to talk about what the password is, share my experience using it, and pose a question to Kimpton regulars about the least cringeworthy way to say it.
What is the current password for Kimpton?
Kimpton is one of the cooler IHG hotel groups, and there are a variety of things that set it apart. The social password is one of those things. If you use social media to say "seasonal Kimpton" when you check-in, you will receive an extra bonus.
The Kimpton password is valid for stays through February 21, 2022. When you check in at a Kimpton property, you will receive a surprise.

I used the Kimpton password.
I stayed at the Kimpton EPIC Miami, which was my first Kimpton stay in quite a while, and it was a good value as well, as I was able to use a free night award earned with the IHG® rewards club premier credit card.
I was curious about the benefit of using a password. I shared the password with the agent. He brought out a game show-style wheel at the end of the check-in experience. It must have gone around for about 30 seconds if I spun too hard. I landed on a tile that had me spin.
The prize was free parking. I had a car and was staying for two nights, and the parking cost was $44 per night. The Kimpton password saved me $100.

The wheel shows that there are a number of other prizes, including a welcome drink, breakfast, snacks, and a movie. I guess you don't win anything when you have a few empty squares. I am not sure what the alarm clock, car tipping over, or postcard of Miami will do for you. I got a great reward from those prizes.
It is cute that the Kimpton EPIC Miami makes a game of this. I know there is a lot of variation in this benefit. Some hotels provide perks like an upgrade, free parking, and other perks, while other hotels provide a 19 cent branded koozie.
It is great that this is still going strong, given that it has become more popular. It used to be a good way to encourage people to follow Kimpton on social media.
How do you not say the Kimpton password?
I hope some Kimpton regulars can help me out here. I am curious how other people use the password during checkin, as I find social interactions exhausting. I don't like to say "just chilling," so what's the best way to do it?
The front desk guy was nice, and I said I was supposed to say just chilling as the social password. I would feel better about doing this in the future if I knew how others do it. Is there a better way to go about it?
