According to the New York Times, more Americans have died from Covid-19 than any other country.

Over the past week, the country has reported over 1,300 new coronaviruses deaths.
According to data compiled by the New York Times, Mississippi and Alabama have the highest death rates in the country.

New Jersey has the third-highest death rate in the country with 322 deaths per 100,000 residents.

Louisiana has the fourth-highest death rate in the nation, followed by Arizona.
Only New Jersey has an above-average vaccine rate, with over 70% of the state's residents fully protected against the coronaviruses.
Less than half of residents in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana are fully vaccined.

The U.S. coronaviruses death toll will surpass that from 2020 because of the free, safe and highly-effective vaccines this year. The death rate is below record highs from mid-to-late January, but some states are reporting the largest increase in new cases since the beginning of the Pandemic. The new omicron variant, which may be able to evade the protection offered by vaccines, may spur a new wave of infections and experts are encouraging everyone to get a booster shot or complete the initial round of vaccinations.

Covid-19 is the biggest infectious disease outbreak in US history. The number of deaths from coronaviruses in September surpassed the number of deaths from the 1918-1919 Spanish Flu.

The States are reporting the fastest rise in new covid-19 cases.

Seven states are reporting their highest number of Covid-19 cases.
