Fans are wondering if T'Challa should be replaced in the sequel due to the uncertainty over Letitia Wright's vaccine status.
Reports have surfaced in recent weeks that Letitia wants out of the Marvel Universe because of the vaccine mandates at Disney. One report claims that the writers had to change the ending because of the ongoing problem.
Letitia is expected to return to work in January after taking some time off to recover from an on-set injury, but the outlet also reported a little while ago that she was spreading anti-vax sentiment with folks on the production.
In a since- deleted post, LW denied that account. Fans are wondering why producers wouldn't just replace Boseman with a new actor.
Many argue that the mantle couldn't possibly be taken on again because of how deeply tied it was to the legacy of the man, but others think it could've. The idea of tapping a new T'Challa wouldn't have been the worst thing.
A lot of the rumored on set drama of Black Panther 2 might be prevented if they just recast T'Challa. I know people loved Boseman, but he had more stories to tell.
The argument is that the character of T'Challa deserved a lot more screen time and movies to himself, and that alone outweighs any perceived slight toward him and his memory by passing on the torch to another actor playing the same character.
There is an entire movement dedicated to this, called #RecastTChalla. Some people think that he'd be behind this, because of his own words in previous interviews.
At this point, they're not going to get another T'Challa in front of the camera, despite some of the fan base's desire, because they're knee-deep in production.
Our guess is that all of this vaccine stuff is true. Shuri doesn't become the new BP like in the comics, and the helmet gets passed onto someone else. It is rumored that 'Black Panther: Wakanda forever' will be out in 2022.
