Everyone can make of this offer because it sounds too good to be true.
SimplyMiles is offering 5x bonus AAdvantage miles.
I have written about the American AAdvantage SimplyMiles program before. When using your eligible Mastercard, you can earn bonus miles with select retails. You can browse the offers available on the SimplyMiles website, then you can register for the offer you want to use, and when you make a purchase with your linked card, you will earn bonus miles according to the offer you registered for.
Think of it like an online shopping portal, but instead of following a specific link, you use a linked credit card.
You can earn an additional 5x American AAdvantage bonus miles on every purchase with participating merchants through December 27, 2021, if you sign up for SimplyMiles. This is available for a limited time and is subject to availability of bonus miles, which is open to interpretation.
You will earn an additional 5x as many AAdvantage miles as you would normally earn with this promotion, but you will not be earning an additional five AAdvantage miles per dollar spent. The emails that many members are receiving support the interpretation.
Through December 27 you can earn an additional 5x American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles on every offer site-wide. If you earn 100 miles on a purchase of $30 or more, then you will earn 100 miles and 500 bonus miles for a total of 600 miles.
This is a good deal.
There are some interesting options that are targeted, so not everyone will be eligible for each offer.
Movie Club gives 23 miles per dollar spent, so with 5x miles you should earn 138 A miles per dollar spent.
If you buy $200 or more, Best Buy will give you 1,500 miles and you can earn up to 9000 AAdvantage miles.
40 miles per dollar spent is the amount of miles you can earn with 5x miles.
There are many examples. You want to make sure that the promotion still shows up on the SimplyMiles website, and that you see it at the time that you make your purchase. I would also recommend taking pictures.
Is this offer worth it?
Is it worth it to get American AAdvantage miles for 0.42 cents? I think it would. There is some risk here. This promotion is straightforward and clear about what it is about. We are interpreting the promotion in the same way it was presented.
I think that SimplyMiles is right that earning 240 AAdvantage miles per dollar spent is too good to be true, and that there is some risk that they are not right aboutupplies being no longer available.
I am giving it a try. I made a donation. I took a lot of pictures of it. I will report back on my experience, but I am not sure how valuable my data point will be for those considering this.
Everyone will have to make their own decisions about what to do with this.
The bottom line.
SimplyMiles has a promotion offering 5x bonus AAdvantage miles for purchases through December 27, 2021. If you can earn up to 40x AAdvantage miles per dollar spent, you should be able to earn up to 240 AAdvantage miles per dollar spent.
That sounds too good to be true, but you can decide what to do with it.
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion?
