George Stephanopoulos asked Anthony Fauci what message he has for parents who are hesitant to have their children get the vaccine.
If your child is five years of age or older, you should get them vaccinations. Fauci said we need to protect the children. George, the idea that children are not vulnerable is not true.
The Recount is December 12, 2021.
Fauci said that the number of children who have been hospitalized for COVID-19 infections has increased by over a million in the last decade, which has resulted in over 100 deaths.
It's good for the health of the child and also to prevent the spread in the community. Fauci told Stephanopoulos that parents should encourage their children to get vaccinations because they have a very safe and effective vaccine.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Kaiser Family Foundation, as of December 5, only about one in five children in the US have received at least one dose of the vaccine. KFF stated that only 4.3% of children are fully vaccine free.
After an initial period of high demand, vaccination progress among those ages 5-11 has slowed significantly, according to KFF. The rate of vaccination among 5-11 year-olds has slowed considerably, a drop that preceded the Thanksgiving holiday and has continued since.
The data shows that the vaccine rates for children vary depending on the state. The four states with the highest vaccine rates for children are in the Northeastern US, while the four states with the lowest vaccine rates are in the South.
