It's now more affordable to get an AirTag and track your keys or bag from your phone. For $25 to Amazon Prime Members, and $27 for everyone else, you can get a single unit of Apple's item tracker. The sale runs until the end of 2021, so it's ideal for last-minute gifts or post-holiday splurging. You have until January 31st to return anything you bought, but it's not the same as Amazon's return policy.
AirTag can be purchased on Woot for $25
The AirTag has a number of tricks that help it stand out. Ultra-wideband support makes it easy to find tags with high precision, but the real star of the show is the easy to set up NFC-based pairing. If you have an Apple phone with UWB, you can know the exact spot where you lost your goods.
The main catch with Apple gear is the ecosystems. You'll need an Apple device to set up AirTag and track them from afar, even if you use an Android phone. If you want to clip a tag to a backpack, you'll need accessories. If you think the alternatives are dull or unwieldy, the simple design might be appealing.
