Urban Meyer denies Jacksonville Jaguars reports: 'If there is a source, that source is unemployed'

Meyer wants to take out the garbage.

He means the person or persons leaking information outside of the organization. The report that he and Marvin Jones had a screaming match came out Saturday. Meyer said anyone leaking information could lose their job.

When things are going badly, what's the answer? Start leaking information? Meyer said after the Jaguars' loss at Tennessee on Sunday that it was the first time in five years that they had not scored a touchdown. "No." That's nonsense. That is garbage. I've been blessed. I haven't dealt with that. Did you hear what he said? What? No. We need to improve on offense and get our quarterback in a good position to succeed. Our focus is that.

"What someone's brother said, or someone said something else, that will not occupy much of my time." If there is a source, that source is unemployed. If there is a source that is doing that.

The league sources confirmed that Jones had to be persuaded to return to the team facility after leaving in response to Meyer's published criticism of the wide receiver. Meyer and Jones had a heated exchange after he came back.

Meyer denied that he and Jones had an argument and that he called his assistant coaches "losers" during a staff meeting. Jones came to Meyer to question what Meyer said about the receiver, but the conversation was not heated.

Meyer said that calling someone a loser is inaccurate. I have high expectations for our coaches. I want our coaches to be held accountable for their positions and the times when they're not, we address it. I assure you that there was no report.

I think I said that we have some injury issues and lack of consistency. He's great after we talked about that. We moved on. There's a lot of pride in Marvin, and there's a lot of players. He's one of the guys who aren't used to this. Marvin looked at me and said, "I guess we're not allowed to talk anymore, are we?" after I heard that he was fantastic and we had a fantastic relationship. There's nothing.

Meyer spoke with Khan on Saturday night and after the loss on Sunday, but he plans to address the news reports with the team Monday. Meyer wouldn't say what the two talked about other than to say that Khan has been fantastic since he's been here and we're going to do the best we can to win games. That's our job.

"Our focus is to finish the season strong and to make whatever adjustments we have to make to get this thing cooking."

The offense didn't get warm on Sunday. James Robinson had a career-low 4 yards on six carries, as the Jacksonville Jaguars failed to surpass 200 yards for the third time this season. One of Lawrence's four picks was thrown after Laviska Shenault's hands, though he never threw more than two in any game during his college career at the school.

Shenault and Laquon Treadwell collided because Shenault ran the wrong route in the fourth quarter.

The result was a 15th consecutive road loss, ninth consecutive loss to an opponent from the South and fifth in a row overall. It's the second time in Meyer's career that one of his teams was shut out, the other being Ohio State in the 2016 College Football Playoff semifinal.

Meyer said that he still believed in his heart that the franchise would be turned around. The experience of winning games has not materialized as I expected. I knew this was a build. I think we have enough players that can win games. I still believe that.

I think we can do better than we are doing, so I get so disappointed with our coaching staff or myself. Really disappointed.
