Chris Wallace leaves Fox News to join CNN's new streaming service

The first 2020 presidential campaign debate will be hosted by Fox News anchor Chris Wallace at the Cleveland Clinic at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. The pool via reUTERSPOOL is headed by Olivier Douliery.

CNN just got a big name for its service. Chris Wallace is leaving Fox News to host CNN+, which will launch in early 2022, according to the network. The departing Fox News Sunday anchor said he was eager for the freedom and flexibility of streaming.

Wallace said on his last Fox News Sunday show that he wanted to try something new and go beyond politics. He didn't say where he was going next during the broadcast. Wallace is leaving as his contract ends. Fox said it was proud of Wallace's team and would fill his role with a rotating cast of journalists until it found a permanent replacement.

WarnerMedia was proud of its coup. CNN's commitment to both CNN+ and journalism as a whole was shown by the Wallace hire.

It's too early to say if CNN's move will prompt a talent war among streaming news outlets. Fox News Sunday has not always done well against other shows. CNN is hoping Wallace will draw viewers to its internet-only service and provide an edge over competitors that might only see streaming as a nice-to-have extra.
