Fox anchor Chris Wallace is leaving network after 18 years

Chris Wallace is on the set of "Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace" in Washington, DC.

Chris Wallace abruptly announced on Sunday that he was leaving the network immediately.

The host of Fox News Sunday said he was ready for a change.

I want to try something new, to go beyond politics to all the things I am interested in. Wallace said on his final show that he was ready for a new adventure. Wallace hoped fans would check it out.

The network will fill the spot with rotating hosts until a new anchor is named, the company said in a press release.

The bosses at Fox promised 18 years ago that they would not interfere with guests or questions I asked. They have kept their word.

Wallace left the cable news world after a period of change. MSNBC host and former NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams announced last month that he was leaving the network at the end of the year. Williams said he would pop up again.

Chris Cuomo was fired by CNN after a review of how he helped his brother and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo respond to sexual harassment allegations. Cuomo said he was disappointed in CNN.
