Chris Wallace announced during a broadcast of his show that he was leaving Fox News.
He said at the end of the broadcast that his final episode was "Fox News Sunday".
"Eighteen years ago, the bosses at Fox promised me that they wouldn't interfere with the guests I booked or the questions I asked." Wallace said that they kept that promise. I have been free to report to the best of my ability, to cover the stories I think are important, to hold our country's leaders to account. It has been a great ride.
Wallace joined Fox News in 2003 Wallace worked at ABC News from 1989 to 2003 and was a co-anchor of the "TODAY" show at NBC News.
Wallace told viewers during his send-off Sunday that he felt the community had been built. There's a lot to do on Sunday mornings. It's something I enjoy, the fact that you've chosen to spend an hour with us.
Wallace, who has moderated presidential debates and been praised as one of Fox News' most unbiased and trusted journalists, decided to leave the network to explore other interests. He said he was ready for a new challenge. He asked his viewers to check it out, though he didn't give any details of what he was going to do next.
The news was confirmed by Fox News in a statement.
