This is a great opportunity to cross the Atlantic next year.
Singapore Suites awards are readily available.
You can fly Singapore Airlines exclusively between the United States and Germany if you want, but the New York to Frankfurt flight is a fifth freedom flight.
There are plenty of award availability in Suites at the moment. The airline doesn't release much award space in advance in Suites. There are many days with two Suites awards available, and some days with three Suites awards available, which is almost unheard of.
The KrisFlyer miles one-way price is just 86,000, which is a great deal, especially given the lack of fuel surcharges. Star Alliance partner award programs don't have access to this award space.
There is award space from New York to Singapore, but I am not sure about booking it.
If you take that flight, you won't be able to enter Singapore because it isn't part of the VTL concept.
It is not known when Singapore will open up on a more widespread basis.
I think the value in traveling between New York and Frankfurt should be worth it next spring and summer.
It is easy to earn Singapore KrisFlyer miles.
You can earn these miles even if you don't have KrisFlyer miles.
The A380 is owned by Singapore Airlines.
Is Singapore Airlines going to offer Suites on this route?
The old Suites product is scheduled on the route when Singapore Airlines has an A380. This plane has 12 Suites at the front of the lower deck of the A380, as well as the original double bed product from Singapore Airlines.
The old A380 Suites are from Singapore Airlines.
The new A380 Suites cabin features just six Suites at the front of the upper deck, as Singapore Airlines is in the process of reconfiguring its A380 fleet. The new cabins are already installed on at least 10 of the 12 A380s that Singapore Airlines will maintain in the long run. It is likely that the route will be updated to feature the new cabins if the route does indeed maintain A380 service.
The new A380 Suites are for Singapore Airlines.
There is a third option. Four first class seats are available on the route, but only in a 1-2-1 configuration. If there is a schedule change that causes this route to continue to be operated by the 777-300ER, I wouldn't be surprised. This flight is not part of the VTL concept, and one has to wonder how this flight will be prioritized.
I would still happily travel to Europe in a Singapore Airlines first class cabin, even though it would be a bit less expensive than Singapore Suites.
The first class of Singapore Airlines.
Regardless of whether the route ends up featuring the old A380 Suites, new A380 Suites, or first class, I will be happy with the speculative tickets I lock in. Singapore KrisFlyer charges $50 to redeposit an award, so this seems low risk. KrisFlyer miles are not valid for account activity after 36 months.
The bottom line.
There are Suites award availability between New York and Frankfurt between March and August of 2022. You can get 86,000 KrisFlyer miles for booking two or three award seats on many flights. This is a great opportunity when you consider the lack of first class seats available in advance across the Atlantic.
I don't think the plane currently scheduled on the route will be able to operate this route. I wouldn't be surprised to see this route get either the new A380 Suites, or a new 777 with just a standard first class product.
Are you going to take a Singapore Suites award seat across the Atlantic?
