You can earn an additional 5x bonus miles on every purchase with the American Airlines SimplyMiles promotion, which runs through December 27th. There is a limited number of total bonus miles, so this adds a multiple of 5 on top of that.

Stephen assumed that the promotion would add an additional 5 miles per dollar spent, which seems like a reasonable guess. He later updated the post when he discovered that it added 5 times the offer amount on top of the normal payouts.
That makes for some great deals. Stephen wrote a post about the promotion in 2019.
I linked to the SimplyMiles program and spent $200+ at Best Buy with a Mastercard that I used to get two Best Buy offers, one for 1,000 bonus miles and the other for 750 bonus miles. The 5x quintupled both of those amounts and were awarded separately to each of those bonuses.

There are many more opportunities. Blue Apron is offering 1,200 miles with a $50 purchase.
If the promotion works the way it did for Stephen, you could earn 7,200 miles on a $50 purchase, with an initial bonus of 6,000 miles. If you didn't want the meal delivery kit, it would be worth giving Blue Apron a try.
There are a lot of great deals for hotels, from the usual I hg offers and a Mandarin Oriental offer that could be of interest to deals on all sorts of gifts. It is worth taking a look at.
It sounds like this is good for unlimited use. The email sent by AA is confusing. The email has a limit of 3 uses by December 31st, but I think it refers to a Target offer that has an expired date. I don't think the line about 12/31 applies to the 5x bonus mile offer. I think that the extra 5x is good on all SimplyMiles offers through 12/27, as it says in a couple of places.
There are a limited number of bonus miles available through this deal. It's possible that this could end sooner than December 27th if people spend a lot of money on opportunities like the ones above. It ran until December 31st, but was pulled at 12pm on December 27th. I would recommend getting in sooner than later. I urge caution, because I don't know how we'll know when the bonus miles are exhausted. I will only take advantage of offers that I am comfortable with if this doesn't work out.
If we knew this would last until the end of the year, it would be tempting to see if purchases made toward the end of the year counted towards elite status. I am not sure if it will last through 12/27 or if the earnings will be backdated to 2021.
