Indian Prime Minister Modi’s Twitter account was ‘briefly compromised’

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, had his account briefly compromised on Sunday.

The timing of the announcement and the suggestion that New Delhi will be introducing a strict law has caused suspicions about a hack. The Finance Minister of the country said last month that New Delhi had no plans to recognize the virtual currency.

The Sunday message included a link to a website and said New Delhi was going to distribute some of the virtual currency to its citizens.

The Prime Minister Modi's office said on Sunday that Modi's account had been fully secured and that anytweets shared during that period must be ignored.

The Prime Minister's office said that the social network took the necessary steps to secure the account as soon as it became aware of the activity.

It wasn't clear who hacked the account. At the time of publication, it was not accessible.
