Zion Williamson, a forward for the New Orleans Pelicans, has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation.

The team is still waiting for the bone to heal in his foot, which has kept him out of a game this season.

Zion had a regression in the bone healing of his fifth metatarsal after experiencing persistent soreness in his right foot. The volume and intensity of his training will be reduced for an extended period to allow for further bone healing.

It is not known when he will return to the court.

On December 2nd, the Pelicans announced that they had stopped him from returning to full team drills in practice because he was experiencing pain in his foot. The team was going to dial him back from 5-on-5 and instead focus on low-impact work.

He will not be doing weight-bearing work until another set of scans can assess the foot and healing process.

Due to a torn meniscus, the debut season of Williamson was delayed. He played in just 24 games because of the injury and the COVID-19 stop. He averaged 27.0 points on 61.1% shooting while being named an NBA All-Star last season.

Since he hasn't taken the court this season, he has played 85 games in his career and missed 87, with no return date for this season in sight.
