Legend Samuel Eto'o elected president of Cameroon FA

Eto'o was not able to help his country progress from the group stages.

Samuel Eto'o was elected head of the country's FA on Saturday and will run the sport for the next four years.

The fourth vice-president at the Confederation of African Football was defeated by the four-time African Footballer of the Year.

There were seven candidates who should have been in the elections, but five of them withdrew on the morning of the election.

A wide range of reforms has been promised by Eto'o.

He said that they need to bring football to the forefront of their policies. Ensuring that those who play this discipline make a decent living out of it is our role.

He has promised to build at least 10 stadiums during his time in office.

Eto'o had said prior to the polls that he would get the right investors who would accompany him in fulfilling his goals.

The proceedings of the gathering broadcast live on national television triggered popular attention.

The Africa Cup of Nations will be held in January and February of next year.

Maboang Kesack and Jules Denis Onana gave up their candidacy on Saturday.

The glittering career continues.

Eto'o, the all-time top scorer in Africa, joined Real Madrid at the age of 16 and went on to play for Mallorca, Espanyol and Leganes.

He scored 54 goals in 133 outings for Mallorca in 2000 to become the team's all-time leading scorer.

In 2004, the former captain of the team moved to Barcelona, where he helped the team win three La Liga titles, as well as two European Championships.

Eto'o was the first and only African to win the Spanish Golden Boot after scoring 26 times in 34 matches.

He scored over 100 goals for Barcelona before moving to Inter Milan in 2009, where he won the Italian title and the Club World Cup.

Eto'o helped the Indomitable Lions win two successive Africa Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002 and went on to become the tournament's record scorer with 18 goals.

In 2000, he was the coach of the gold medal winning team.
