Firefox 95 for Windows and Mac introduces RLBox, a new sandboxing tech

The latest version of the browser is available for Windows and macOS. All users on both platforms can use it.

The new version of the macOS will reduce the amount of time spent on event processing and power usage while streaming video from sites like Netflix, according to the Firefox team.

On both Windows and macOS, Mozilla has improved page load performance by speculatively installing jаvascript ahead of time. There is a way to change the picture-in-picture button to the opposite side of the video on both platforms.

The best enhancements of Firefox 95 are related to security, as RLBox is now enabled on all platforms. The quick summary is that it's a new technique that protects users from threats and that it's a new technique that isolated potentially problematic code in WebAssembly.

Bobby Holley writes that RLBox goes above and beyond what is afforded by process-based sandboxing and that it will be applied in more ways in the future.

RLBox protects our users from accidental defects and supply-chain attacks, and it reduces the need for us to scramble when such issues are disclosed upstream.

The November 2 release of Firefox 94 added new color themes, introduced Site Isolation, made changes to the way updates were delivered, and made several OS-specific optimizations.
