The city council commissioned the exhibition to show the residents of the area why they like living in the area.
Carmiggelt said that it's the most fun area she has ever lived in. She said that she spent more time with her neighbors than she usually would because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Carmiggelt said she had been able to build good relationships with the shopkeepers, the butcher, and the women who work in the windows.
There are postcards from the "We Live Here" exhibition.
Carmiggelt said that the RLD has not always been a tourist area. She said that when she first arrived, the area was known as a hot spot for drug dealers and knife crime.
She said there are lots of police cameras and police on the street. The streets are cleaned every day for tourists and there are a lot of nice trendy shops so it started to get popular and everyone wanted to have a business around here.

She told them to throw their garbage in the trash. "Be respectful with the sex workers."
Men and women want to have sex. If they want to pay for it and a woman can make money from it, then why not? Later in the interview, Carmiggelt added.
Sex workers in the RLD are protected by several rules. Visitors are not allowed to take pictures of the women who work in the windows, and drinking on the streets is now allowed, according to RLD Amsterdam tours.
