USWNT's Megan Rapinoe among unprotected stars in NWSL expansion draft

Megan Rapinoe will not be protected in the upcoming NWSL expansion draft.

The National Women's Soccer League will be holding a expansion draft next week and some of its stars, including Megan Rapinoe, are available to be taken.

Angel City FC and the San Diego Wave will be able to pick up to nine players from existing teams in the NWSL in the December draft.

The viewers' guide is for LaLiga, MLS, FA Cup, and other sports.

The teams were allowed to protect up to nine players, but the rest of the players on their rosters were available to be chosen. Other U.S. national team players left unprotected include Andi Sullivan, Emily Sonnett, and Kristie Mewis.

Christine Sinclair is a Canadian all-time leading scorer. The Chicago Red Stars, the Kansas City Current, NJ/NY Gotham and the North Carolina Courage all earned full immunity in the expansion draft after trades.

Teams often engage in handshake agreements and negotiate deals to protect their players in the past. The NWSL college draft will take place on December 18.
