Delta Flight Diverts After Tirade On Slavery Turns Ugly

This story has taken a strange turn. A passenger on the Delta Air Lines flight that was diverted to Oklahoma went on a rant about being enslaved by white men. His refusal to quiet down, despite being handcuffed, led to the diversion. The flight attendant and federal air marshal were allegedly attacked.

The first video of an eruption onboard has now surfaced.

And later of being arrested.

Police in Oklahoma City say a passenger on a Delta flight assaults a flight attendant and Air marshal. Police arrested a passenger on the diverted flight from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles. The story is here:

Another flight to Los Angeles...

The story is original.

A Delta Air Lines flight was diverted to Oklahoma City after a passenger attacked a flight attendant and a federal air marshal.

Air marshal was attacked by unruly passenger after Delta Air Lines Flight Divertts to Oklahoma City.

Delta flight took off from Washington National yesterday evening and is headed to Los Angeles. The incident took place about 3.5 hours into the flight.

It is not clear why the passenger became combative, but he physically attacked the flight attendant. The passenger turned on the air marshal when he tried to intervene. The air marshal requested assistance from another passenger.

The passenger was taken into custody. The flight was diverted to Oklahoma City.

The man was led off the aircraft without a mask on, according to the website, which claims to have video of the incident but did not share it.

A Delta spokesman confirmed the incident, but did not add any more information.

Delta applauds the crew and Federal Air Marshalls for their quick action after a customer became unruly and was removed from the flight. We apologize to our customers.

The suspect will face prison time and a steep fine. The flight attendant and air marshal were not seriously injured.

Conclusions.

It seems that mask-related incidents have stopped this month, perhaps a sign that people are getting used to them and are giving up protest even as the Biden Administration extends the federal mask mandate into the spring of 2022. If initial reports are correct, this is a reminder that the controversy over masks continues to cause poor behavior onboard airplanes.

The flight was operated by a 757-200, not an A350.
