Manchester United: Ralf Rangnick will not try to convince Paul Pogba to sign a new deal

In his second spell at the club, Paul Pogba has made over 200 appearances.

The interim boss says he won't try to convince Paul to stay at United if he makes up his mind to leave.

The world record £89m transfer from Juventus to United in 2016 was signed by Paul Pogba.

The French World Cup winner is free to speak to other clubs in January after his contract ends next summer.

He is worth keeping, but players need to want to stay and play for the club.

I don't think it makes sense to convince a player to change his mind if he doesn't want to play for Manchester United.

I don't think anyone at the club should try to convince a player to stay.

"Let's have him come back, get fully fit and training with the team, then we will see where we stand."

After sustaining a thigh injury while on international duty with France, Pogba has been out of action for United's last seven matches.

There have been occasional moments of brilliance since he returned to Old United, but he has generally underwhelmed, with both Jose and Ole Solskjaer dropping him at times and struggling to find him a settled position.

After taking the helm less than two weeks ago, Rangnick has his own ideas about where the focus should be.

I have to get to know him. I have to talk to him. Being fully physically fit is what it is about. The way we want to play is high intensity.

It will take some time for him to be fit. I see him as a center fielder once he is fully fit.

How do we get him fit is the only thing that interests me.

I am aware that he can be an important player. That is true for all the players. I am also the coach of Paul Pogba. I am the coach of the other players.
