Austria slowly reopens for the vaccinated

Austria will reopen just in time for the holiday ski season, after almost three weeks in a lock down meant to slow the spread of the Delta variant.

Restaurants, hotels, and Christmas markets were closed on November 22 because of the lockdown. The country will move forward with its plan to reopen on December 13 after new infections have dropped.

The country will remain locked down for unvaccinated people. Most places in Austria will require proof of full vaccination or recovery from the virus to enter.
Some of Austria's provinces have slower timelines for reopening than country-wide. There will be no restrictions on hotels, restaurants and cafes on December 12.
Salzburg, Styria, Carinthia and Lower Austria will open on December 17 and 20.
The hikes in Austria offer a glimpse of the high life.

It is no longer acceptable to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
All public, indoor spaces have FFP2 grade masks required. Guests at restaurants and cafes need to wear a mask when not seated.
Restaurants and cafes will close at 11 pm, so visitors should plan ahead.
