Sources told ESPN that Steve Kerr, a three-time NBA championship coach with the Golden State Warriors, has been selected as the next coach for Team USA.
Kerr will take over the USA coaching staff for the World Cup and Paris Olympics.
Sources said that Kerr's coaching staff will include Monty Williams, Mark Few and the Miami Heat.
Sources said a formal announcement is imminent.
Kerr and Williams were on Popovich's gold medal winning staff in Tokyo. Two of the best college basketball coaches are the Heat's Eric Spoelstra and Few's Gonzaga.
Grant Hill's first major decision as managing director of USA Basketball was the assembling of the coaching staff. Jerry Colangelo retired after four gold-medal teams with Krzyzewski and Popovich as coaches.
