Michael Nesmith, Monkees Singer-Songwriter Dead at 78

It was.

Michael Nesmith was a member of the famous 60s group The Monkees.

Michael Nesmith passed away this morning in his home surrounded by his family, of natural causes.

The group exploded with hit after hit and even compared to The Beatles at one point.

Among the hits. "I'm a believer," "last train to Clarksville," and many more.

Mike wanted the group to be more than just a show. They didn't play the instruments on the show. He put his fist through a wall during a heated discussion.

"We were kids with our own taste in music and were happier performing songs we liked and wrote than songs that were handed to us," Mike once said.

He helped launch MTV by pitching a show called "PopClips", which evolved into the 24 hour video channel.

Liquid Paper was a cash register for the family.

3 of the 4 people are dead. Micky and Mike performed their final show together at the Greek Theatre.

Nesmith was 78 years old.

I am sad.
