World Rugby awards: Zoe Aldcroft named women's player of year

England has had a run of 18 straight Tests without a loss.

World Rugby named England second rower ZOE LADCROFT the women's player of the year.

The 25-year-old captained the Red Roses for the first time in the Autumn Series.

The award has been won by four England players in the last five years: Michaela Staniford, Sarah Hunter, and Emily Scarratt.

She said she was so proud. I'm very happy to accept the award.

She told the next generation of female players to be themselves, work hard and keep their feet on the ground.

"Any individual awards are a reflection of a team effort and I'd like to dedicate this to all of the team-mates, coaching and management staff that I work with for club and country," he said. I can't thank them enough for their support.

We're looking forward to the Six Nations and the World Cup in New Zealand later in 2022, and we're heading into a huge year for the women's game."

The public voted and Aldcroft won ahead of France's Laure Sansus and England's Poppy Cleall.

In November, England's women dominated New Zealand over two matches, winning 56-15 and 43-12 and extending their run to 18 Tests.

The first women's team to be named World Rugby's coach of the year was the Red Roses.

England's Maro Itoje is one of the nominees for the men's player of the year.
