The biggest news and trailers from the 2021 Game Awards

The Game Awards are a three hour long event where the awards take backstage to trailers and reveals. The Expanse, Star Wars and Among Us were just some of the news stories that were covered at this year's show. A new Alan Wake was given to us. Also, Sting was there.

If you missed any of the announcements, here are the ones you missed.

The Matrix can be explored in Unreal Engine.

We just so happened to get a fresh look at tonight, as well, because it is a chance to explore the cyberpunk world of The Matrix ahead of the fourth movie's release later this month. Alan Wake 2 is survival horror.

Alan Wake is getting a sequel. Sam Lake says the series will be moving in a survival horror direction.

Slitterhead is the creator of Silent Hill.

Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama and his team at Bokeh Game Studio are working on a new game called Slitterhead. The trailer is so frightening that I can't show it.

Elden Ring is still amazing.

We have already seen a lot of Elden Ring, but we want to keep watching the trailers. The latest is more focused on story than on the game itself, making the wait for the game's February launch that much harder.

There is a proper look at the game.

Rocksteady, the studio best known for the Batman games, has been working on a Suicide Squad title for a long time, but a new trailer for Kill the Justice League gives us a new look at the game. Rocksteady is expected to release a new game in 2022, making it their first new game in seven years.

Wonder Woman is getting her own game.

Monolith is making a Wonder Woman game. It will be a third-person action game that will use the famed "nemesis system". There is no word on release date or platforms.

The Final Fantasy VII remake is coming to PC.

The remake of Final Fantasy VII is coming to PCs soon. The enhanced Intergrade version of the PS5 will be included in the port.

A Star Wars game is being made.

The studio behind the questionable game Detroit: Become Human is making a title based on the Star Wars universe. Eclipse is an intricately branching action-adventure game that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple characters in your hands. There is no word on a release window or platform.

A new trailer for a show.

There is another big addition to the halo universe coming as well, and everyone is hooked on halo Infinite. We got our first look at the live-action Halo TV show at the Game Awards, which is coming to Paramount Plus early next year.

Among us is going to use virtual reality.

Among Us can be played on a range of platforms, but its next release will offer something different: virtual reality. The new version of the game will be a first-person, 3D experience and will be developed by the studio I Expect You to Die. It will be coming to Meta Quest, PSV, and Steam.

There are games on the PC.

A new tool that will allow you to play games on a PC from the Play store was teased. It is expected to be available in 2022.

A double dose of Sonic.

We got a glimpse at the sequel to the live-action Sonic movie from 2020 as well as a new Sonic game called Sonic Frontiers, which is the latest attempt to make a good 3D Sonic The Hedgehog.

Dune: Spice Wars is a spinoff of an existing game.

Shiro Games is developing a real-time strategy game called Spice Wars, which will be available in early access on PC in 2022.

The trailer for Hellblade 2 is long.

The sequel to Hellblade looks bigger than the first one, from the world you will be running through to the monsters you will take on. It looks terrifying, but you can get a good feel for the experience with this lengthy new trailer.

Cuphead's expansion makes a reappearance.

We haven't heard from Studio MDHR in a long time about the big expansion for Cuphead. The DLC will be available on June 30th, 2022, on all platforms that Cuphead is on.

Another chill album.

Riot released an album full of music designed for streamers. The second based on League character Diana features 43 tracks composed by 25 different artists. It can be streamed on services like Apple Music.

The game is free to play.

After years of being free to play, the battle Royale is finally going free. The change puts the game on even footing with newer games like Fortnite and will hopefully keep the game competitive for the next few years.

The Star Trek adventure is similar to the one from the comic book series.

Dramatic Labs, a new studio made up of veterans from the failed adventure game developer, is using the same format for an upcoming game. The studio says that Resurgence is an all-new story set after the events of The Next Generation. It will be available on Xbox, PS, and the games store in the spring of 2019.

Expanse is a game that is being made by Telltale.

A new series based on The Expanse is being worked on by the revived version of Telltale. It is being developed by Life is Strange studio Deck Nine, and is a sequel to the Amazon Prime series.

Thirsty suitors have strong Scott Pilgrim vibes.

Outerloop Games is the developer of Thirsty Suitors, a narrative action-adventure game that grapples with themes of complex family dynamics, navigating difficult relationships, and discovering one's true self. It has a strong Scott Pilgrim vibe with fights against exes and Tony Hawk-style skateboarding. The game is listed as coming soon for PC.

The release dates for Lost Ark and CrossfireX.

There were a few new release dates hidden amongst the trailers and reveals. The Tunic is coming out on March 16th for the PC and XBOX, and we have a new trailer to go along with it. CrossfireX, the upcoming Xbox shooter that is a collaboration between Smilegate and Remedy, will debut on February 8th. The single-player campaign was handled by Remedy. Amazon will be releasing Lost Ark on February 11th.
