Among Us is getting a virtual reality adaptation. The creators of the acclaimed I Expect You To Die series are developing the virtual reality edition. The trailer for the game was shown at the Game Awards.
The core mechanics of the original game are retained in the virtual reality version of Among Us. The short trailer shows a player interacting with a keypad in a cartoony 3D room before getting attacked by another crewmate who is apparently a sinister imposter.
Among Us was previously launched for PC and mobile platforms. The non-VR version will be released on December 14th. The game is part of a partnership with a consulting firm.
Among Us was inspired by social deduction games like Mafia or Werewolf, where a large group of players have to guess the identity of a dangerous hidden threat. It won't be the first time that mechanic has been used in a virtual reality game. The game was later adapted into a horror comedy. But Among Us inspired a fan base that could follow it into virtual reality.
