According to the Associated Press, the truck rolled over and crashed into a bridge in the southern state of Chiapas.
The head of the civil defense office in Chiapas said that the speed of the truck and the weight of its cargo may have caused it to flip over.
Many people were thrown out of the truck's trailer and several others were thrown into a pile inside the trailer.
The Mexican Attorney General's office said that three of the injured were in critical condition and that 21 of the injured had serious wounds.
The majority of the victims of the accident were from Central America and they were from the country of Guatemala, according to local authorities.
Alejandro Giammattei, President of the Republic of Guatemala, expressed his sadness on his social media accounts, and said that he would offer all the necessary assistance to the victims' families.
