The Game Awards announced Alan Wake 2. A brief trailer shows the main character in New York City as well as the original game in the Pacific Northwest setting, and confirms a release date of 2023. Alan Wake 2 will be available on the PS 5, Xbox Series consoles, and the games store.
Sam Lake, the creative director of Remedy, said on stage that Alan Wake 2 will be the studio's first ever survival horror game. Lake expanded on the concept behind the project in a post on the official PlayStation blog.

The sequel is not coming out of the blue. Alan Wake was first released for the Xbox 360 in 2010, but has received a lot of attention in recent years. There were references to the game in Control and its expansions, and a remastered version was released for multiple platforms back in October. The second game in the franchise was confirmed by Remedy to be part of a smaller publishing deal that would include two games in the same franchise.
