The Doak Walker Award is given to the best running back in college football.

Walker beat out Tyler Badie of Missouri.
Walker had the best season of his collegiate career in the current season, with 1,614 yards and 18 touchdown on the ground and 13 catches for 89 yards and a score.
He transferred to Michigan State from Wake Forest. In his one season with the Spartans, he has racked up more rushing yards than he did in his two seasons with the Demon Deacons.
Walker is a finalist for the nation's best overall player. Brandon Van Pelt was the only Spartan to ever win the award.
The Doak Walker Award has never been won by a Michigan State player.

Hall had one of the best seasons of his collegiate career in the fall of 2021, rushing for 1,464 yards and 20 touchdown on 253 carries in 12 games. He caught 36 passes for 302 yards and three scores.

Badie had a career-high 1,604 yards and 14 touchdown runs on 268 carries in the season that ended in October.
