Josh Jobe will not play for Alabama in the College Football Playoff after he had foot surgery this week, according to sources.

Jobe won't be able to play in the Cotton Bowl because of his decision to return to Alabama. The app is available on the Disney and ESPN websites.

He would miss the national championship if the Tide defeated the Bearcats.

Jobe, a senior from Miami, had a turf toe injury over the last month of the regular season.

Jobe started in all but one game the past two seasons. He had 31 tackles, one tackle for loss, six passes defended, and two intercepts. He had a key pick-six in the fourth quarter of the Tide's 24-22 victory against the Tigers in the Iron Bowl, and he had seven tackles in the SEC championship game.

Jobe will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by freshman Kool-Aid, who has played in all 12 games and made four starts this season. The No. 40 prospect in the ESPN 300 was McKinstry. Jalyn Armour-Davis is expected to be back for the playoffs after missing the last two games with a hip injury.

Jobe is the second Alabama starter to suffer a season-ending injury this week. John Metchie tore his left knee in the first half of the SEC championship and will miss the rest of the season. He had 1,142 yards with eight touchdown and 96 catches.
