Premier League clubs told to return to emergency Covid-19 measures

The protocols that the players followed at the start of the season will be followed again.

The new Covid rules in England have prompted the Premier League to tell its 20 clubs to return to emergency measures.

At the start of the season, the protocols were brought in.

Some of the measures that had been relaxed by clubs with high vaccination rates have to be reintroduced to help limit the spread of the Omicron variant.

The match between Spurs and the Seagulls has been postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak.

A number of players from the team did not travel to Italy for the game because of positive Covid-19 tests.

The league didn't say how many clubs had been able to relax the measures.

The protocols include wearing masks in indoor areas, therapy taking no longer than 15 minutes, and medical staff required to be wearing full PPE when in contact with players.

Eight players and five members of staff at the London club tested positive for coronaviruses, which led to the cancellation of the Europa Conference League match against Rennes on Thursday.

The first-team training centre was closed on Wednesday.

Boris Johnson said the government was going to introduce Plan B to fight the spread of Omicron.

Fans will have to show proof of double vaccination or a negative test to attend sporting events with large crowds in England.

The measure will be in effect from Wednesday.
