The first touch off the bench by Ewan Henderson put Celtic up.
A much-changed and youthful Celtic ended their Europa League group campaign on a high with a dramatic home win over Spain's Real Betis.
The entire starting team was changed by manager Ange Postecoglou, but they took an early lead through Stephen Welsh's goal.
After a spell of three goals in five minutes, Betis tied the game twice, the second of which was a penalty by David Turnbull.
After resting his first-choice side, Postecoglou was forced to bring on Kyogo Furuhashi after 25 minutes when Albian Ajeti was injured.
The Japanese forward was forced off at the end of the first half, while the other two stayed on despite clashing heads.
Reaction as it happened.
Celtic will face one of eight second-place sides in the Conference League in order to get into the last-16 of the new third-tier club competition.
There were nine changes to the side that won at Barcelona, but they still possessed more quality and experience than a Celtic side that included two debutants.
The quality of the visitors began to tell after Welsh's opener, as Diego Lainez went close, before Scott Bain denied Tello and Joaquin.
Borja Iglesias' low shot was tipped onto a post by Bain, before bouncing back off the Celtic keeper and into the net to give them a point in the 69th minute.
Despite failing to qualify, Celtic have not been short of goals and responded three minutes later through Henderson, who tapped home the ball after replacing Kyogo.
When Iglesias was played clean through for an almost instant reply, only for Gonzalez to bundle over Abada in the box as he streaked through on goal, it was almost instantaneous.
There was still plenty of time for more drama after the spot-kick was tucked away by one of the 11 players rested from the starting XI.
The visitors had a chance to snatch a draw before the first goal was disallowed.
Nine minutes were added due to the head clash between Bitton and Urhoghide, and with one minute left Juanmi inexplicably headed into the ground and off the bar from three yards out.
Bitton stood tall to block a follow up shot on the line and seal a victory for Celtic.
Liam Scales was the man of the match.
Scales had more touches and passes than any of his teammates. The Irishman was composed.
What did we learn?
There was enough quality and spirit from Celtic's youngsters to encourage Postecoglou, but it was hard to take much from a dead-rubber game.
Scales was the pick of the bunch with his energy and use of the ball, as they used nine players under the age of 22 on the night.
If the injuries keep piling up, some of these players will be getting more game time as they are added to the injury-list.
The large squad is being tested to its limit with a cup final and crucial league games on the horizon.
What's next?
Celtic will play Motherwell on Sunday in the Scottish Premiership.
The match had match statistics.
Celtic have won three of their last four games, but have only won one of their previous 11.
Their games this season have contained 28 goals, more than any other side.
In their last four European away games, Real Betis have conceded at least three goals in three of them, as many times as they had done in their previous 29 on the road.
Nine minutes and 46 seconds passed between Bain's own goal and the penalty.
Henderson scored 37 seconds after coming off the bench, the second fastest goal by a substitute in the competition.
Bain was the first goalkeeper to score an own goal in a major European competition.
