New York AG To Subpoena Trump, Request Deposition

According to multiple reports, the New York State Attorney General is planning to issue a subpoena for President Donald Trump to give a deposition in January.

People with knowledge of the investigation say that the AG is overseeing a civil probe into whether the Trump Organization misvalued its properties.

The Trump Organization and representatives for the former president did not respond to Forbes' requests for comment.

The Washington Post reported on the deposition.

Since he left the White House in January, legal issues have swirled around the former president and his associates, but Trump has not been charged or accused of any wrongdoing. The Trump Organization, the former president's business empire, has been implicated. In June, the organization and its former CEO, Allen Weisselberg, were indicted by a Manhattan grand jury as part of an alleged 15-year tax evasion scheme that funneled $1.7 million in untaxed money to executives. A trial for the Trump Organization and Weisselberg is expected in the fall. A grand jury in Manhattan is looking at how the Trump Organization valued assets and whether there are grounds to bring criminal charges. According to reports, prosecutors in Westchester County are looking into whether the Trump National Golf Club Westchester overvalued its assets for tax purposes.
