Triple vaccination soon required for travellers after Pfizer announce booster vaccine neutralises Omicron

Pfizer/bioNTech vaccine neutralises Omicron with three shots.

The new Omicron variant of coronaviruses is rapidly spreading around the world and Pfizer and BioNTech have said that a booster jab of their vaccine will be an effective defence against it.

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine may not provide enough protection, but the third shot increases the amount of antibodies.

Pfizer's Chief Scientific Officer said that the news should make everyone more motivated to get vaccine.

The findings were not peer reviewed or published in a scientific journal after they were issued in a press release.

Pfizer and BioNTech said the results bolster the case for repeated and periodic boosters to maintain people's immune defences against Covid-19.

President Joe Biden said the preliminary results were very encouraging.

The Omicron variant could increase the likelihood that people will need a fourth coronaviruses vaccine dose earlier than expected, according to executives at Pfizer.

Albert Bourla, Pfizer's chief executive, said on CNBC's "Squawk Box" that the fourth jab might need to be moved up.

The Dutch Minister of Health, Hugo de Jonge, announced that from February of 2022, the country's authorities will only recognize Covid-19 vaccination certificates that indicate that the holder has received a booster shot.

Many countries around the world are imposing an expiry date on vaccine validity, which can be extended by getting an additional dose.

The vaccine validity in Austria expired after your second dose, but it was only for 270 days.

Visitors to Israel are required to ensure their vaccine validity doesn't expire for the duration of their stay.

The validity of the vaccine should be set at nine months if the proposal is passed by the European Commission.
