Star Wars: The Acolyte Has Found Its Star in Amandla Stenberg

One of the Star Wars shows coming to Disney+ is not known. It is not about a preexisting character, at least we think so, and it is set in a time period that most fans don't know about. Amandla Stenberg is the show's star.

The Acolyte is being developed by Russian Doll co- creator Leslye Headland, and Stenberg has been cast as the lead character. The show is set during the end of The High Republic era, which you can read all about in various excellent books and comics currently out in stores, and with a title like The Acolyte, it is likely to deal with some sort of Force users. We don't know if those people use the light side or the dark side. Acolyte has a dark side in Star Wars. io9 has reached out to Lucasfilm for comment and we will update this post if we hear back.

No one is sure what role Stenberg will play, only that it is most likely the lead and character named "Aura." The lead role of a Disney+ Star Wars show is the biggest role of their career so far. The young Rue was played by Stenberg in the original Hunger Games. They did several roles and received critical praise for their work in The Hate U Give. They were in a musical called Dear Evan Hansen. They might be going to a galaxy far away, to a time even longer ago.

As it breaks, we will have more on The Acolyte.
