According to a report, the Project Guardian aims to shield controversial characters and users with large followings from an onslaught of troll and haters. Musicians, professional athletes, journalists, and other users who are particularly prominent are included on the list of high risk users that the platform maintains.

When a report of an abusive post related to an account on the list is received, the content moderation team will respond quicker than any of the other ones it has lined up. The program is intended to prevent harmful content from spreading, as well as keep prominent tweeters content, and less likely to speak out about being bullied on the platform.

Users who get caught up in the social media drama may be included.

According to Yoel Roth, the head of site integrity, users don't have to be famous to be on the Project Guardian list. Users who get caught up in the social media drama may be included, but only temporarily. Once the 15 seconds of fame wears off, the user will be removed from the Project Guardian list. A user may be added to the program if an employee notices that they are seeing a lot of hate messages, even if they don't realize it. A high-profile user may even have their manager personally ask for more protection on their account.

James Charles, Wael Ghonim, and Scott Gottlieb are just a few of the users who have used Project Guardian in the past. The program has been used to protect journalists who cover controversial topics.

Project Guardian protects users from bad PR.

Project Guardian is one of several factors that are used by the social network to prioritize its responses to user reports. This includes a post's impression, how many followers the user in question has, as well as whether or not the reported tweet is actually harmful. The program might have been around for two years or more, but there is no indication that a particular incident sparked it.

Project Guardian protects users but also protects bad PR. In March, it came under fire for its inability to control the people who bully. The troll made false claims that she was part of a celebrity pedophile ring. She quit the social networking site as a result of the harassment. Critics argue that the platform could have done more to protect her.

Changes to the platform have been made just before this revelation. In a single day, the company acquired a messaging platform, began piloting individual content warnings, and started experimenting with a TikTok-style tab. The first week or so has seen a spurt of announcements after Parag Agrawal became CEO. In an interview shortly after he took over, he said he hopes to speed up the execution and streamline the operations.
