The notification shade and lock screen are two of the biggest features of the 12L version of the phone.

Today is the first day for the public to get a peek at the new version of the OS, which is designed to give a better experience on tablets and large folding phones. It could be a chance to see what the developers are working on in a more polished state than the preview.

The two-column layout for larger screens will let you get more information at once. Your quick settings and notifications can be seen side by side. You can use split-screen mode from the taskbar to quickly switch between apps if you drag an app into it.

12L should make it easier to do multiple things at the same time.

If you have a Lenovo Tab P12 Pro, you should be able to run the preview on it, but it won't be available until later. If you don't feel like waiting and you want to see how the game will look when it's more widely available, you can run the 12L alpha in an emulator.

You won't be able to test out the large screenUI on the supported devices, but you will be able to install 12L on your supported device. If you really want to be on the bleeding edge, or are testing out apps that use 12L's new APIs, you can enroll your Pixel here. It is probably a little rough around the edges as the first alpha.
