The AWS outage that took down Ring, Alexa, and Disney+ is finally over

On December 7, 2021, Amazon Web Services experienced an outage.
The outage began at 11:20 am Eastern Time and continued into the evening.
Ring, iRobot, Disney+, Venmo, Prime Video, Prime Music, and many other services that rely on Amazon's cloud systems were affected.

All services are back online and operating normally.

The East Region of the Amazon Web Services, or Amazon's massive cloud system, began experiencing issues in the early morning hours of December 7, 2021, which is located in Virginia. Until the issues with the internet are fixed, any services that use the server in this region will experience issues. Richard Rocha is an Amazon spokesman.

Disney Plus, a popular payment app, was one of the services that was affected by the outage. Customers were unable to order items off of Amazon during the outage, as most of the services were down.

It was thought that Ring's cloud services were only affected, as Ring Video Doorbell customers reported that they were unable to access the Ring app at all. Customers weren't able to view camera feeds or manage their Ring Alarm. Customers couldn't access the Ring app because they couldn't store the cameras locally on an SD card.

The Ring service dashboard shows that all of Ring's systems are online and that all of the other apps and services that were affected by the outage have been restored to their full function.
