The Australian Open final was won by Novak Djokovic.

Despite uncertainty over his Covid vaccination status, world number one Novak Djokovic has been entered into the Australian Open, while seven-time winner Serena Williams is not.

Defending champion Djokovic has refused to reveal if he has been shot.

Williams said she was not fit to compete in the first Grand Slam of the 21st century.

She said that she is not where she needs to be to compete.

I am excited to return and compete at my highest level, but I will miss the fans.

The US Open champion Emma Raducanu will make her tournament debut.

Britons Dan Evans and Heather Watson are also on the list.

Stanislas Wawrinka is also missing with injury, while Roger is not due to return until after the summer.

The Australian Open will be held in January.

The bar against unvaccinated players was the reason why the father of the nine-time Australian Open champion said his son was unlikely to play at the tournament.

Tennis Australia has denied that it has explored the possibility of applying for an exemption to Victoria's state rules for Novak Djokovic.

Tennis Australia said that all players, patrons and staff at the Australian Open have to bevaccinated.

There is no suggestion that Tennis Australia is looking for loopholes in this process.

The deputy premier reinforced the message.

He said that medical exemptions are not a loophole for privileged tennis players.

The Serbia's team will play in the Australian city of Sydney from January 1 to 9.

The New South Wales state government would have to apply for an exemption to allow him to play without being vaccine free.

On arrival, he would have to do 14 days ofQuarantine.
