Former Cowboys DE Aldon Smith Arrested on Felony Charge of DUI Causing Injury

Aldon Smith was arrested on a felony charge of driving under the influence.

Smith's bail is $50,000. He was still in jail as of 6:07 p.m. On Tuesday. Smith is due in court Wednesday.

He played for the 49ers, Raiders and Cowboys. He signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks in April but was released in August because of an "off-the-field matter," according to Brady Henderson.

Smith's legal history includes multipleDUI arrests as well as domestic violence-related charges.

Smith was charged with second degree battery in April after he was accused of choking someone unconscious in a coffee shop.

The former University of Missouri star was selected by the 49ers in the first round. He played four years in San Francisco before being released in August of 2015 after being charged with hit-and-run and drunk driving.

Smith was picked up by the Raiders in November of 2015 because of the charges that led to his 49ers release. He was suspended for two more years by the Raiders after he was charged with domestic violence.

Smith was reinstated by the league and was with the Cowboys in 2020. Smith was not re-signed by Dallas after the season.

Smith played in 75 regular-season games over his career, and he amassed 52.5 sacks and six forced turnovers. He was an All-Pro in 2012
