Oklahoma State's Jim Knowles Hired by Ohio State as DC on Ryan Day's Staff

According to Adam Rittenberg, Jim Knowles will join Ryan Day's staff at Ohio State.

Day will have a third defensive coach in three seasons.

Oklahoma State's defensive coordinator for the past four seasons, Knowles was a finalist for the Broyles Award in 2021, which is given to college football's top assistant coach.

Oklahoma State's defense is third in the nation in yards per game. It ranks seventh in scoring and fourth in yards per play. Oklahoma State leads the way in third-down defense, a category in which it led in 2020.

The Cowboys allowed 273.6 yards per game in 2021, with 89.2 yards on the ground and 184.4 in the air.

The Ohio State team allowed 366.6 yards per game in the 2021 season, which ranked 52nd in the country. In addition to the passing yards per game, the Buckeyes defense allowed 119.7 rush yards per game.
