The Portland Trail blazers announced that guard CJ McCollum has a collapsed right lung, which he suffered during the team's game against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.

The team says that before a prognosis is decided, McCollum will undergo further evaluation. His status will be updated at that point.

The former Lehigh University star has averaged 20.6 points, 4.1 rebound, 4.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in 35.3 minutes this year.

A pneumothorax is when air leaks into the space between your lung and chest wall. The air pushes on your lung and causes it to collapse. A collapse of only a portion of the lung is called a pneumothorax.

According to the team, McCollum did not travel with the team for their game against the Warriors. The Portland Trail blazers will have three days off before they face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports said on Sunday that the X-rays came back negative and that he would be evaluated on Monday.

He was listed as probable for the game against the Clippers on Monday, but he was downgraded to out.

The shorthanded Blazers have lost three in a row. They are now without their All-Star backcourt of Damian Lillard and Maurice Mcllum, who have missed the last four games with abdominal issues.

Four other players are questionable for the Warriors game with injuries.
