Judge Temporarily Blocks Biden Covid Vaccine Mandate For Federal Contractors Nationwide

A federal judge on Tuesday halted the Biden Administration's federal vaccine mandate for federal contractors and subcontractors nationwide, in the latest legal blow to the White House's efforts to compel workers to get vaccinations.

The judge for the Southern District of Georgia said that he was unconvinced that the vaccine mandate was within the president's power.

The attorneys general of Georgia, Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, South Carolina, Utah and West Virginia brought a lawsuit against Associated Builders and Contractors.
The vaccine mandate for federal contractors in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee was temporarily halted by a federal judge in Kentucky.

Biden announced that all employers with over 100 employees must have their workers get vaccinations or weekly Covid-19 testing. Attorneys general from more than 20 states filed lawsuits. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it would suspend enforcement of the mandate for large private businesses after the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the stay on the mandate. The mandate was appealed by the Biden Administration.
