Elon Musk Says “Civilization Is Going to Crumble” Unless People Have More Children

Musk has been ringing the alarm bells before.

When he isn't warning of an imminent nuclear Armageddon, the eccentric billionaire often brings up the topic of declining birthrates.

He said at The Wall Street Journal's CEO Council that the low birthrate is one of the biggest risks to civilization.

He said that many people, including smart people, think that there are too many people in the world and that the population is growing out of control. It is completely different.

Musk seems to be willing to give up all of his weight for his prediction.

If people don't have more children, civilization is going to fall, he said.

Musk brought up declining birthrates before. At the National Academies joint meeting of the Space Studies Board and Board on Physics and Astronomy last month, Musk warned of the same thing.

He may have a point. China's birthrate has started dropping. That is due to other factors. The country's demographic has been skewing older, with fewer women choosing to have children.

The one child policy ended in China.

What do we do when the population starts aging rapidly? The answer is very simple to Musk.

At the WSJ event, Musk elaborated on why he called for an age limit to be set after which you can't run for political office, an apparent potshot at US president Joe Biden.

Musk said at last night's event that it is important for us to die because most people don't change their minds. If they live forever, we might become a very ossified society.

The CEO of the electric car company has big plans to replace human labor. At the August event, Musk unveiled the "Tesla Bot," a humanoid robot meant to take care of "performing tasks that are unsafe, repetitive or boring."

At last night's event, Musk said the Bot could be a "generalized substitute for human labor over time." In other words, it sounds like Musk might be imagining the robot giving sponge baths to seniors in nursing homes if there aren't enough young healthcare workers to care for.

It is arguably one of the greatest threats facing humanity today, but it is hard to call for an increasing population before we have sorted out the issues.

There are not enough people and the falling birthrate could threaten human civilization according to Musk.

Musk wants to put brain chips in humans next year.
