There is a Quill.

The company announced Tuesday that it has acquired a messaging app that is similar to Slack. In a thread announcing the deal, Nick Caldwell, general manager for core tech at Twitter, described the new way to communicate as "fresher, more deliberate way to communicate." We are bringing their experience and creativity to the service as we work to make messaging tools like DMs a more useful way to communicate.

The team will join the Experience org. The deal's terms were not disclosed. Instructions for users to export their team message histories will be available until 1PM on December 11th, after a farewell post on the updates site. At that time, Quill will be shutting down its server and removing all data. The company said that active customers would be issued refunds.

We will continue to pursue our original goal of making online communication more thoughtful and more effective for everyone.

The official launch of Quill was in February, and it was billed asmessaging for people that focus. It was founded by a man who was once the creative director of a payments processing platform. Oji Udezue will be taking over the Conversations team.

The platform was built for work conversations, but with controls over features that make it a distraction. The structured channels allowed for more focused conversations, and the message threads could be split and moved into separate conversations.
