You can use the service to help elderly family members. A six-month free trial is available for a "limited time" for Amazon's new $20 per month service. The Care Hub users will have a full year of free access from now until December 7th, 2022. Your loved one will need a device with an Amazon.com voice assistant, but after that it's hands-off, so they can get more independence.

The elderly relative can call an emergency helpline if they ask, but Together is more useful for notifications. If your family member calls that line, you'll get an alert. If there's an incident, use a fall detection sensor from either ATS or Vayyar and you'll get word.

Seniors would still have their privacy protected by Amazon. They need to grant permission for you to add contacts, reminders and services. Generic interaction alerts are also included. You will know that your loved one made an entertainment request, but you won't know what was playing.

The service is still limited. If your siblings also want to help, this won't help because Amazon doesn't expect to support multiple caregivers until early 2022, for instance. If you want that safety net, it might still be useful. It's clear that Amazon wants to be a part of your daily wellbeing checks, whether you're your own or someone else's.
