According to multiple reports, former White House chief of staff MarkMeadows will no longer cooperate with the congressional investigation into the January 6 Capitol riot, reverting to an earlier noncompliance position for which former President Donald Trump has long clamored.

The committee was told by George Terwilliger that his client wouldn't be appearing for a deposition because the committee was looking for information that should be protected by executive privilege.
The committee announced last week that they were going to subpoena him to turn over documents relating to the January 6 riot and answer questions in a deposition, despite the fact that he had indicated he would not cooperate.
Bennie Thompson, the committee chairman, sent a letter to Terwilliger on November 11 warning of possible contempt charges if Meadows continued to ignore the committee's requests.
When asked about the possibility of contempt charges, Ter williger said that he would cross that bridge when he came to it.

After agreeing to cooperate with the committee last week, Meadows turned over thousands of pages of documents, but Terwilliger decided to stop complying after the committee began probing for information that is protected by executive privilege. The committee voted unanimously to hold both Jeffrey Clark and Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress for their refusal to comply after both cited executive privilege. The Justice Department indicted Bannon on two counts of contempt, and he has pleaded not guilty. Trump is locked in a legal battle with the committee over the release of White House communications held by the National Archives, and he has discouraged most of his former aides from providing information to the committee. The documents are protected from release due to executive privilege.
