Rangers now allowed fans at Lyon game after late U-turn

Rangers took fans to a match in Danes.

Rangers say they have been left in an "almost impossible situation" after the French government changed its mind and allowed travelling fans to attend the game in Lyon.

Less than 24 hours earlier, the Ibrox club were told away fans were not allowed to attend the final group match due to police resources being stretched.

Many supporters have had their flights and/or accommodations canceled because of the situation.

The club are working with travel partners to find out if they will provide travel to the game after their corporate flight was canceled on Monday.

What Covid tests do I need to take?

Rangers apologized for the hassle caused to their support who will share their frustration at the situation.

Rangers have second place sewn up and there is nothing riding on the tie with Lyon already through as group winners.

Rangers said the decision to ban travelling fans was "bemusing and extremely frustrating".

Rangers were notified by the French minister of the interior that the Festival of Lights would be a test of the police and city infrastructure.

The decision to overturn it was made by the Scottish champion at short notice.

Rangers will face one of the teams dropping out of the competition in February for a place in the last 16.
