The 44-year-old British woman, known only as "Kate" in court to protect her privacy, said she was 17 years old when she met her future husband, and continued their friendship when they both were in London.
Kate was asked to fill in for a message therapist who canceled on Epstein, and that's when she had a sexual encounter with him, according to a report by Adam Klasfeld of Law & Crime.
Kate received a small Prada bag for her 18th birthday shortly after the incident, which prosecutors say was a typical part of the grooming process.
Kate said that on another occasion, she was asked if she knew anyone who would perform a sex act on Epstein, and she said that he liked girls who were cute, young, and pretty.
Kate said that she was friends with a lot of famous people, including Prince Andrew and former President Donald Trump.
District Judge Alison Nathan told the jury that Kate is not a victim of the crimes charged in the indictment, and should only be considered a witness if she was over the age of consent.
According to Law and Crime, Kate maintains that her memories of significant events of her life have never changed despite the legal team trying to downplay her. The defense pointed out that Kate had previously spoken out against him in the media. Kate told the court that she wanted to protect her identity for her son. After the birth of her child in her thirties, Kate ended her contact with Epstein, even though she continued to stay in contact with him. Kate said she accepted a $3.25 million settlement from a fund to compensate victims.
